The Role of an Educational Consultant

I have been a consultant since 1974 integrating my experience as a teacher, guidance counselor, college admission officer, freshman dean, inner city guidance counselor, public high school principal, and head of an emotional growth boarding school, it is this wealth of experience that most benefits my clients.

As a consultant, I am first and foremost an experienced educator interested in how people assess their educational and vocational interests and needs. I believe that well conceived planning helps people enjoy a more satisfactory life.

My experience over the last forty years has taught me that clients need support in discussing their options, evaluating their needs and in developing practical, cost effective plans for their future.

In these days of Internet access and limitless information, the consultant becomes a working partner in gathering relevant information, evaluating the merits of it and assists in organizing priorities and implementing a plan.

As a highly experienced consultant, I can provide my clients with an objective evaluation of their strengths and weaknesses in relation to their peers. Frequently, I will recommend a thorough battery of testing to assess intellectual ranges, learning styles, achievement levels, interests, learning differences, and emotional dilemmas.

We live in a rapidly changing world with technology increasing the speed of our information resources thus intensifying the pace of our lives. Time for reflection and planning is often overlooked in the interest of expediency and a quick fix.

As a consultant, it is very important to have clients understand their needs, placing them in perspective with their dreams. It is equally important to have clients realize their dreams through concrete plans and informed decision-making.
